Cruising: The Lowrider Art Exhibit celebrates not only the culture but the artistic merits of the people who design and build these beautiful cars. With each pin-stripe and air brush flourish a new story is told. The artwork in this exhibitions spans a variety of genres including photography, painted vehicles, and graffiti, and shows the deep influence of low rider culture in Arizona.

Did you know each piece in A Million Little Choices: Sami Lange is made of thousands of hand-cut, hand-dyed paper pieces? Lange’s process represents the overwhelming number of choices we each face on a daily basis, especially for women and parents.

Minor decisions in our everyday lives lead to a woven and quilted life, made whole by the small moments, healthy relationships, and supportive circles we build for our families and communities. We invite you to come see the show and reflect on the ways your tiny choices enrich the fabric of your life!

“Speak to Me Softly” artist Amber Doe uses scu

“Speak to Me Softly” artist Amber Doe uses sculpture and performance to bear witness to the experiences of black women even as American society aims to render us and our lives as invisible and meaningless. Despite the prevalent “urban black” narrative, her experience is tied to the natural world, and Doe uses materials that reference her desert environment and lived experience as a black woman with Indigenous roots: palm leaves, branches, flowers, hair extensions, and cotton rope all give form to her sculptures, installations, videos, and performances. She does not see her experience highlighted in dominant culture, so she uses her art to rectify this representational void.

All of her work is trans species ancestor worship.

Our new Chandler City Hall banners were beautifully designed by artist Meg Stapp @stappstudios and we are asking for YOUR help creating different colorways for the final banners! Your colorway could be chosen for permanent display outside City Hall 🖼️

Download our coloring pages featuring Meg Stapp’s artwork and color in the design however you’d like! 🖍️ You can color it in digitally or print it out and color with crayons, colored pencils, markers, or paint - whatever you prefer!

👩‍💻 Once you have colored in the design, email a picture of your creation to vision.gallery@chandleraz.gov OR drop it off in person at Vision Gallery for a chance to be selected!
