Saskia Jordá works in a variety of media to create installations and experiences that examine themes of geography, migration, and cultural identity. This exhibition features a grouping of suspended bird and kite-like objects, installed high in the airy gallery space yet anchored to the building. In Tethered, Jordá simultaneously juxtaposes feelings of flight and constraint, lightness and weight, hope and longing – while exploring the visible and invisible connections to place and to familial bonds.

Cruising: The Lowrider Art Exhibit celebrates not only the culture but the artistic merits of the people who design and build these beautiful cars. With each pin-stripe and air brush flourish a new story is told. The artwork in this exhibitions spans a variety of genres including photography, painted vehicles, and graffiti, and shows the deep influence of low rider culture in Arizona. 

Come check out what CUSD and Kyrene students have been up to with our 2024 Community Artists in Schools program! We matched five local artists with five schools across the two districts to work with their students this spring. The resulting artwork expresses the new skills, creative methods, and thought processes the students learned with these teachers that enhanced their artistic development. 

Chandler Unified School District’s most gifted artists put their work on display for the community to experience in this annual showcase. The burgeoning artists from Basha, Hamilton, Perry, Arizona College Prep, Casteel and Chandler high schools display their talents and viewpoints through paintings, ceramics, drawings, sculptures, jewelry, and photographs. With over 100 works on display, there is always something for everyone in this exhibition.

For Sweet Tooth, we invited artists to submit their most saccharine artworks to this buffet of sugary confections. Sweet Tooth includes 66 artworks from 44 Arizona artists and spans photography, illustration, painting, sculpture, and more. From literal representations of desserts to pastel colors and nostalgic vibes, this exhibition is cloyingly sweet. Which artwork will satisfy your SWEET TOOTH?

Learn the basics of relief printmaking! Carve your own design on a small linoleum block and use it to print repeated patterns on a greeting card. Materials for two small blocks and three greeting cards are included in registration. Led by Olivia Yuen of LivMakesPrints. Beginners welcome!

Stop by Vision Gallery to make a beaded bracelet for your BFF! Beads, string, and other craft materials will be available for you to use. This is a free, self-led activity for all ages. Children are welcome to participate with assistance from an adult. It's helpful for us if you register for an arrival time-slot, but drop-ins are also welcome.

At the City of Chandler, we know that creativity is a key quality in getting our jobs done well. For many of us, creativity also spills into what we do when we clock out, from nurturing relaxing hobbies to developing skills in a craft and finding solace through artistic expression. With over 50 artworks from 27 artists, this exhibition includes painting, photography, ceramics, and more. Off the Clock celebrates the creative talents of our fellow City employees that enrich our work every day.
